Here we provide a demonstration of Schroth Method corrections.

PLEASE READ BEFORE DOING THESE YOURSELF!!
These exercises as shown are for this specific patient. All scoliosis curves are different, so YOUR curve needs to be treated with different corrections.

The Schroth Method is designed to actively correct the spine more toward the midline. In this video, we demonstrate using the muscles to achieve this active self correction.

Im a therapeutic massage therapist and this is Beautiful work you do. I really love the simple approach you do and the results are great. I have alot of scoliosis patients and I use myofascial Release on many of them. I myself have had 3 spine fusions form T3 to my sacrum as well as Harrington rods and screws. I wish I would have found you when I was a child. Peace

Thank you and Xavier for this demonstration and explanations and thank you to all my previous physiotherapists who in an attempt to relieve pain and strengthen my back for prevention of pain helped me learn to even FEEL my back muscles. They really helped lay the groundwork for me to even understand this video! For anyone struggling and feeling confused and discouraged - please don't feel discouraged - even to feel what is happening on your back could be something you have to train for. If you have insurance that covers it go do physiotherapy and without any shame and inhibitions say you also want to strengthen your back to prevent from future issues. I've done this twice I think, one time I even straight up said I have very little pain but I'm here more for the prevention and the dude nodded with visible pleasure lol, physiotherapists have told me lots of people come when things are already pretty bad and few people do prevention, and it's more extreme for men, they often come right before or after a point of no return. Physiotherapists are happy to help people work on prevention. Working on my back with physiotherapists regardless whether I had some serious pain issue or not helped me overtime FEEL my back muscles. I had to do this exercise and I was like I don't know how to do it and don't feel anything. He was like just try anyway. I would then try like I would focus my thoughts on trying to do the movements but I would not feel anything moving or tensing. And he'd go yes, like this. He then explained some people don't feel soke back muscles but with exercise they start to feel them. I just have to focus. I was like but I don't even know if I'm doing anything at all! And he was like I'll tell you if you're doing it correctly. So I did that exercise in a few of the sessions and started feeling myself do it too. Nowadays I think this plus two stretches I learned I think from the same guy, not sure, and one strength exercise I made up for myself, are probably the reason I haven't gone to physiotherapy for like 3 years or longer. I feel my back and when pain starts I know how to more properly tense it. And just in geberal I know how to (more) properly tense it when I notice my bad posture. I think this prevents a lot of issues and has slightly strengthen my back without any deliberate exercise. And the two stretches I do when pain becomes more persistent and I can tell I need to do these two. I also learned from my brother that laying on my back without a pillow and on a hard surface helps loosen up somehow. After getting massages too in physiotherapy I suppose it's kind of like pressure points but also naturally unteansing in a position in which gravity is pushing for your spine to get into a healthier for you position. I had no idea about any of these things before someone told me and taught me and some I had to have lots of repetitive experience to really feel it and get it. So if things are confusing and you feel you're hitting a wall, don't get discouraged! We rarely find all answers all at once, perhaps it'll be a few days or months or even years until you find the missing piece or pieces you need. I hope this isn't too annoyingly long and chaotic of a comment.

Wonderful! It's so similar to the iyengar yoga practice! I have worked hard to build up the self awareness of my back, given I have the similar spine with the young handsome model, physically and mindfully with the termination of disciplining and letting go of the muscles. Very fine and patient practice.

Wow! Great control of the muscle!! How do you do that? I am having problem expanding my upper left back while maintaining the lower left not moving. What should I do?

These types of issues with the spine can be also related to stress and depression, sorrow, not having a life partner. To everyone out there, stay positive no matter what hard times you’re going through!

How can this create lasting change when we do schorth and put the spine in correct position and let the muscles work in that correct position for maybe 30 minutes per day. When we then have the muscles working in the wrong position the other 23 hours and 30 minutes of the day?

How can this tiny amount of correct position counteract that the muscles are working in the wrong position for 95% of the time during a day?

Thank you for the demo. Does this method work for severe scoliosis in adults? I have an S curve 45 and 60 degrees with a nasty rib hump. I'm in so much pain and no doctors have ever mentioned schroth to me before only push for surgery.

Can you please do a video on leg length discrepancy? Is it not important to know for certain whether it is the tibia or femur that is longer before sticking a wedge in our shoe? I have some mild scoliosis that causes me back pain and breathing problems as well as upper cross and FHP and according to xrays, my right hip is higher by 4.5 mm but that is my longer leg. Also, can a lower arch on one foot cause a discrepancy? Thank you

4/2021 .. yes me too much issues. At seven 0 years I'm generally dismissed but spirits high.
