“I loved you…” still breaks my heart to this day. Watching the death of two of my childhood heroes.

The amount of emotions Hayden portrays saying "I hate you!" is literally one of the most heartfelt moment in cinema for me. I can really feel all this hatred and anger, it chilled my spine.

17 years later and I still tear up. Hayden’s acting skills are under appreciated!

No matter how much people had criticised, memed or made fun of the prequels, no one can deny that this scene is especially heartbreaking

I love how no one ever seems to notice that Obi-Wan didn't just cut off his legs, he cut off his left arm, too.

Now they know the pain that we all felt when we saw this scene in theaters back in 2005.

Dude, mad respect for George Lucas for daring to show us this very visceral physical transformation of Anakin into Vader. This raw emotion alongside the visuals... it's hard to stomach... so dark, so good.
You know nowadays it'd be impossible, Disney doesn't have the balls to go here.

Let’s be real the story of Anakin is one of the most tragic stories in narrated history

Poor Anakin. He lived his entire life as a slave, just to different people. First to Watto, then to the Jedi, and then finally to the Emperor.

I'm a 45 year old man, and I cried too, all 437 times.

Now I understand why Anakin yelled “I hate you”.

He was all alone and everyone who were supposed to be there to help guide him, abandoned him. He tried to save everyone he loved from dying. He failed and was cut down by Kenobi.

“I HATE YOU!!!!”

“You were my brother Anakin. I loved you”

No matter how many times I hear those lines they still hit me like train.

People give Hayden a hard time for his acting but he has commitment, he is so dedicated he let people set him on fire

“How does he live after that”
It’s actually sad to think about, cause when obi wan cut off his legs and arm, they were cauterized. So he wouldn’t bleed out, also his burns weren’t bad enough to kill him quickly either. Even the surgery as painful as it was, wouldn’t kill him. He received the most painful wounds but they weren’t fatal.

It was originally scripted when Anakin is burning and he reaches out that he was supposed to cry out “Help me!!” To Obi Wan and then Obi Wan turns and walks away. That brief moment when Vader fades and Anakin resurfaces just adds a whole new layer of emotion to this scene

It's amazing how the prequels seem to get better and better with age. On release, people said that this was over-the-top and corny. Now, people cry to the point that it should get a retroactive Oscar nomination.

This is even more tragic after you've watched the Clone Wars and seen what a hero Anakin was throughout that series.
