Awesome video. Makes a lot of sense considering the Hebrew word for faith means exactly the same in context. I came here looking for answers and I found it B"H. I new it could not be an intellectual belief in doctrine. Thanks for the concise answer, I'm saving the video to my favorites and planning on sharing G-d bless.

This is exactly what i understood in my personal reading of Romans as from chapter 3 verse 21 onwards.. Before listening to NT Wright.

In sum: Those who are righteous through His faithfulness shall live...

‭‭John‬ ‭6:38‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[38] For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.

‭‭John‬ ‭14:15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[15] “If you love Me, keep My commandments.

This is good to have NT Wright actually exegetes a passage rather than give his ideas. It's grounded in the words of the text.
Tom Wright didn't discover this point, he adopted it from Richard Hays.

Being saved is like saying the vows while getting married, it’s just the beginning, long walk ahead

Faith is what Jesus did in His faithfulness, wrought in the heart of those who hear the Good News, so that they can believe in, and follow Christ.

Thank you for all the uploads relating to this scholar.
At 4:02, in Other words Jesus Gospel Complimented the believers of the Old Testament. And unfortunately the history taught us that the believers of the Old Testament were instrumental in him being crucified!
Dallas Willard (RIP) and N.T. Wright both rare and both in possession of The deepest knowledge of the subject matter, both happen to be very highly methodical in transferring the knowledge with such extraordinary mastery of articulation and vocabulary skillsets.

💯💯💯
P.S. I've been always thought that circumcision happens to be a significant Step towards Much better hygiene Much better hygiene, Not becausd it is only a Jewish and Muslim practice.

I'm inclined to believe that it's both -- like having two creation accounts, we are meant to see both meanings. After all, it is literally the faithfulness of Jesus that saves us and rescues us and brings the Kingdom of God and us into it -- Jesus acted as the perfect representative of Israel, God's chosen nation, and brought God's plan of rescue of Israel to fruition on the Cross, by being obedient, even to death on a Cross. That saving work is appropriated by faith -- trust in the Messiahship of Jesus, trust that Jesus carried out the job of the Messiah on the Cross and in rising bodily from the dead. Dr. Wright is not advocating an "either/or" position, but a balance of two possible readings. We shouldn't be surprised by this kind of complexity and richness from the Bible; Paul was a considerable talent in his own right like a Shakespeare, and the classical position is that Romans and the Pauline letters carry God's authority, on the basis of evidence that Paul was conscious of his apostolic authority; and evangelicals tend to extend 2 Tim. 3:16 to New Testament writings, although that's probably a bit of a stretch.

Paul says the Faith that saves is not of ourselves so that no man can boast it is a gift of God
Ephesians 2 : 8-9 When I came to Jesus Christ by the preaching of the cross I just believed &
God did all the work of saving me. Now I live from Faith to Faith, still by believing in Jesus Christ.

Belief/faith is simply being convinced something is true.

Faith in Christ is being convinced that Jesus is the Christ and His promise of everlasting life for you is true.

If you believe that through Jesus’ death and resurrection you will never perish and have everlasting life, you have believed the saving message and are eternally secure.

Tom we are saved through our faith, which is a journey as the just shall live by faith, and through our complete trust and righteousness we seek to be justified by Christ, Galatians 2:17. Double Justification.

In answer to Felix I’m not sure I understood faith to be exclusively faith or faithfulness according to NT Wright’s explanation. It can mean either one as translated from the Greek “pistis, ” and in context. Perhaps an example of faithfulness on our part would be found in the Fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5. I really appreciate Wright’s view of Christ’s faithfulness in these passages while maintaining our faithful response or human agency.

You explained that we are saved by the faithfulness of Jesus yet when the same word is applied to us you switched to believe or have faith. Why do you change the word from faithfulness to faith when it applies to us? Does the Greek word change from faithful to just believe when it is applied to us?
