It really feels sad watching this. Like with the fire in Notre Dame. These monuments should be rebuild as precisely as possible.

This is really sad. 😢 😔 😞 😢 I hate watching ancient history being destroyed or damaged. I hope they’re able to rebuild it the way it looked.

I don't know how much controversy the 900 year old figure will cause, but I think we should return to its historical and cultural value, and the fact that this bridge is built using traditional Chinese wooden arch bridge construction techniques, which is of great academic value to architecture!
In fact, the bridge has been completely destroyed and rebuilt four times, in addition to numerous repairs and maintenance! The following are the important points of time about it.
In 1090, the Wan'an Bridge was built in the fifth year of the Yuan You period of the Northern Song Dynasty.
In the 16th year of the Ming Dynasty (1588), the Wan'an Bridge was demolished and only one wooden plank remained.
Qing Kangxi forty-seven years (1708), Wanan Bridge was burned by fire.
In the seventh year of the Qianlong era (1742), the bridge was rebuilt.
Qing Qianlong thirty-three years (1768), Wan'an Bridge was burned by theft again, and set up a wooden crossing.
Qing Daoguang twenty-five years (1845), rebuilt Wanan Bridge, for 34 open 136 column bridge house.
At the beginning of the Republic of China, the Northern Warlords burned the Wanan Bridge.
The Republic of 21 years (1932), again rebuilt Wanan Bridge, the bridge to the right bank extended to 38 open 156 columns, the bridge northwest of the heavy eaves bridge pavilion.
In 1952, the northwest end of the Wanan Bridge was destroyed by a large flood 12 open.
In 1954, Pingnan County People's Government government funded the reconstruction of Wanan Bridge.
Since December 2014, Wanan Bridge had started a large-scale repair.

The person who set the fire is so evil! Hopefully he gets what he deserved!

'Life is impermanent. Nothing lasts forever'. Old Buddhist saying. The bridge will be re-built.

Pretty sure those are not literally 900 years old wood, I think it's been restored many times throughout the years. As long as they exactly replicate the whole thing, it's fine.

The Chinese are talented enough to restore it back in record time.

0:27 i dont think even experts could restore that level of damage with 10m of what remains from the original, rather they would just use a replacement

That sad for those people who work on that bridge from so many years ago from their own time and our time now. It’s so sad when other people damage stuff now in this time of 2022

this is not an 900 year old bridge, this bridge has been destroyed multiple times from various events. So it's just a mock up of its original

So tragic, a replacement will not be the same.

It is sad. Such a pity. Bridge lasted that long. I can't imagine that our Charles Bridge in Prague would be destroyed.

There's actually water literally a few feet underneath the bridge but no process in place to use that water to extinguish the fire

restored, but with added better fire retardant materials for sure
