This fella is an open conduit for the the pinnacle of groove. This is what Plato was talking about on the back wall of the cave. I don’t think the attendees truly realize how nuanced and brilliant this performance is and that is what makes it so great.

I don’t know exactly what it is that makes somebody really really good at music, but whatever the hell it is Ry Cooder has it in abundance!!

My 95-year-old dad thinks this is one of the greatest performances he’s ever seen.

What a guitar champion Ry Cooder is here on stage..A legend with a slider on those guitar strings is sensational..Happy New Year fans ..

Ry is great and has been so for a very long time. I will never forget his jamming with some of us at Reed College in 1967, when he attended college there for a year. Playing with Ry makes you feel like someone has attached strings to your fingers when you play and is gently guiding you and lifting you up, infusing you with energy, bringing you inside the music. He is a phenomenon. I only wish that before I die I could play music with him just one more time.

I was born at the wrong time. My soul lies in this music. There's nothing like the Blues. Thank you for sharing

I died last night so I can't hear the music just the lyrics and I need a pair of those glasses to minimize the glare of all those flames. God bless you drive home safely we want to see you next year.

In 1972 I had a late night gig at a college radio station. Labels would send comp albums and I was on the look out for anything other than the classical pieces I was supposed to play. It was my first chance to behave and do the playlist as instructed. I failed at that chance and got listeners calling from over 100 miles wanting to know who that guy was that I was playing. Somehow his first album just connected. 10 pm to 2 am 5 nights a week, Ry let us all into his view of music. We were all addicted. This went on for about a year. I was lucky. I got on board early. So glad to see people still discovering.

I'm born and spent all of my 61 yrs in Croatia, Europe. Cooder became my absolutely the best musician, guitarist, character at my high school period.
He has that...something. And his constant need not to be in front. He's The One in music to me.
My point of all this: I've been a very good friend with a woman from Dallas, TX. And when we discuss music, she always wonders how she has never heared of Ry Cooder. That was. at first a great surprise to me even more. But, this will probably explain it all: just last week, she said she had a great time at Garret Strait concert in TX. Nashville singers like Garret are her thing.
Nuff said.
