An American woman died on Monday after a shark bit her near a popular tourist spot in the Bahamas. This comes after several other shark incidents in the region in recent months. CBS News' Errol Barnett reports.

This is what happens when you LOOK LIKE FOOD and you' re out there mucking about in their feeding grounds! I'm truly sorry this has happened to this woman and all who knew and loved her...humans need to make smarter choices and take the time to understand the other inhabitants of our planet...it is not ours alone.

It had to be a bull or tiger. Bahamas is notorious for those two sharks and the attacks. I wouldn't stick a toe in that ocean. Regardless R.i.p to the woman who lost her life 🙏

How tragic. I'm sorry for the family. I used to surf. I ran across one of these majestic beasts once. Fortunately it didn't attack me. However, the animal did convince me to quit surfing and building a pool. I haven't ever looked back.

i feel for her family and her husband but don't blame the Shark! we may be the top cheese on land but when it comes to the oceans the Sharks are the macaroni and people enter the Ocean and aren't careful then these awesome animals are going to mistake you for a food source. it is crucial to keep as close to the shore as you can when your on paddle boards or swimming and look for signs around you and in the water.

The sharks might be starving, look at poor Popov attack, the shark was caught and opened up, apart from some human remains there was nothing in its stomach, the shark had pups growing inside and was starving because of overfishing in the red sea. Overfishing is a worldwide problem so many sharks most be so starved they will try to eat any food source they come across. I have stopped swimming in the sea, it's just not worth the risk.

Paddle boarding is dumb, especially a mile off shore. She might have looked like a seal swimming along the surface of the water, to the shark.

Im sorry this happened, and send my condolences to her fam. That said...
I grew up in and around the ocean, and learned very early not to go out far unless you are in a boat. We are food for them, and yes, attacks are rare, but they WILL check us out if we're in their territory. I just hope the shark wasn't killed for this.
