Top Solar Panels to Install

Many manufactures are pushing to provide homeowners with the highest wattage and most efficient panels they can. This in turn reduces the overall number of solar panels needed to be installed on the roof. But who has the best one on the market? Well this video will help answer that very questions comparing the industries leading solar companies.

@LGUSA @RECGroupMedia @QcellsEurope #Solaria using @EnphaseEnergy micro-inverter

Dale, thank you for sorting all the information floating around and presenting the best panels in the market at this time. I went ahead and requested a quote from Pacific Sun and I am very pleased by the prompt, friendly, and professional service I received. I was trapped in analysis paralysis, my typical mode when in the market to purchase something, and you and your coworkers helped me to make the right decision. I started my solar quest by going to Tesla's webpage and ordering solar. While I waited for a response, I requested a quote from SCE. After much consideration, as you know, I decided to have your company install our system. Thank you so much for your help, Stay patient with me, I just sent you an email asking about the price difference on my quote if I went with REC instead of LG. I read some of the comments and noticed how happy some of your subscribers were with REC. The analysis goes on, but with less paralysis.

Instead of making just bigger and bigger panels, try to make them more efficient! 🧐

Just a friendly heads up that it’s degradation not degragation.

Efficiency is just in terms of physical size. A 400w panel that is 22% efficient will produce the same as a 400w panel with a 20% efficiency rating but will need to be physically larger.

Efficiency only matters when there is limited roof space. Sure its a big deal in Cali, but say in Florida its rare that its worth getting a higher efficiency panel especially because they cost more.

An example. The Solaria 370w panel would allow you to get more wattage on the same roof than the newer 400w panel which was physically larger. And the 370w cost less so they were just better

Just had REC Alpha 365s installed, activated this afternoon! They look fantastic in all black, I’m sure the Pure series is even better.

Dale, which micro inverter should I use with the Rec 400 watt panel, the IQ7+ OR THE IQ7A ?
Please let me know, thank you.

So sad that LG didn't even care to outsource panel manufacturing like Panasonic did. It's like they didn't realize how amazing their technology was.

There are actually 3 testing methodologies regarding solar panels...

STC - Standard Test Conditions [25C (77F) ambient temp, 25C (77F) Panel Temp, 1000w m/2 irradiance, 1m/s (2.2mph) wind speed]

NOCT - Nominal Operating Cell Temperature [20C (68F) ambient temp, 45C (113F) Panel Temp, 800w m/2 irradiance, 1m/s (2.2mph) wind speed]

PTC - PVUSA Test Conditions [20C (68F) ambient temp, 45C (113F) Panel Temp, 1000w m/2 irradiance, 1m/s (2.2mph) wind speed]

Of those 3, PTC is commonly referred to as the most accurate test for US based conditions, averaged.

Is new net metering 3.0 going to kill us if we go solar now and it is ready to turn on in January of 2022 or February of 2022?

In the Valley of the Sun (Phoenix) where a large amount of time we are over 100 degrees REC Alpha makes sense.

If you e er hear of Fluent Solar turn and run they will rip you off, at an install cost of $2, 000 per 370W panel.

Maxeon is the best panel but you don't even include it?

Called and left a message twice and didn't get a return call.

The pricing make no sense becasue you did not mentioned how big is the system in this price, better idea is to mentioning pricing in per Watt coast to make it really clear for everyone.

First of all I really like you series, but your info on the heat coefficient is not correct. You are an installer so you know you won't see any of your roofers or solar installer on the roof in the late afternoon during the summer. Thats because its 150F/65C up there in Los Angeles. The average heat coefficient is 0.35, that means for every 5 degrees above 77 F there is about a 1+% loss in efficiency. So at 150F there is 15+% loss in efficiency...thats alot. 99% of your content is right on, please keep up the great work, thxs

Dale: I agree with "shroud" (most recent comment before mine if you sort comments by "Newest First") regarding your claim of a 400W panel with 22% efficiency giving more power than a 400W panel with 20% efficiency. And it seems that the manufacturers cloud this even further because they list efficiency for the solar cell only. They don't compute it by the physical size of the *panel*. That's why, when comparing panels for output, I use the listed (outer) dimensions of the entire physical panel to compute the area (I use sq. ft., but probably should use sq. m.), and divide the rated wattage (again, I should probably use wattage at NMOT instead) by the area to get the # of watts I get per square foot of actual roof space taken.

Other than this and the other issue with your comments regarding temperature coefficient (see comments from "Andy Murchison" below), I enjoyed your video. Oh. Except for one more thing. Pleeeease don't throw around the term "literally" so "liberally". You tend to use it for emphasis instead of its actual meaning. Just one example: when you said that one panel (maybe LG?) "literally kicks the crap" out of the other panels, I really don't think you meant that LG panels have actual legs and feet, and that they can make a kicking motion, and that when they contact other panels with this kicking motion, excrement comes flying out of the panel(s) being "kicked". Misuse of the term "literally" is an all too common error made nowadays. I would suggest using the word "really" as an alternative.
