ASEAN-China established the ASEAN-China Dialogue Partnership in 1991, the two sides became the Strategic Partnership in 2003, and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen their partnership and cooperation as the ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) in 2021. ASEAN and China have stepped up efforts to consolidate political and strategic mutual trust, deepen trade and economic cooperation, enhance connectivity, and strengthen people-to-people exchanges, and have achieved fruitful results spanning across a wide array of areas.

Building upon this partnership, in 1997 the Government of the People’s Republic of China launched the ASEAN-China Cooperation Fund (ACCF). With its aim to support ASEAN Community Integration and promotes people-to-people connections by providing fund support for the cooperation and development programmes/projects initiated by ASEAN Members State (AMS), ASEAN’s bodies and entities associated with ASEAN, ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC), and the People’s Republic of China. In order to manage the ACCF, in 2019, ASEAN-China Cooperation Fund Management team (AMT) successfully set up the office at the ASEAN Secretariat.
