To do a "flat white", I always make a 1:1 ratio, , pretty much the same as a cortado, but with a thinner foam, bordering on simple hot milk. Might be making it wrong, but thats how it was shows to me🤗

Hi, thanks for posting this video, I’m new to home espresso (just bought a La Marzocco Linea Mini) and these videos are much appreciated. You said that flat white is a double ristretto, like what’s the weight of coffee and the yield and extraction time please 🙏🏼
Also, how is steaming the milk for flat white any different from steaming milk for cappuccino?

I have a question … I read that the ‘magic coffee’ is a flat white but with a modern ristretto in a 5oz so it has a more intense flavour compared to the flat white that’s served with a full double in a 6oz cup? So is magic coffee actually a thing or is it just an actual Aussie flat white and the standard flat white in the Uk is just not an authentic flattie?

How would you order this in a cafe? Do you have to specify anything special for a double ristretto flat white? I'm assuming their standard would be just a double shot

Love this! So on a Breville Barista Express, would this look like 18g of coffee in and perhaps 24g espresso out for the single flat white (1:1.3 ratio)?

This is so interesting because my biggest problem is milky coffee. Nobody ever says use a ristretto instead of a double shot snd never tells you what cup to use.
