Saved by Grace or Decree? #14 Irresistible Grace: What Calvinists Believe

Показать описание
Definitions of Irresistible Grace is provided by four prominent Calvinists, including John Piper, Wayne Grudem, Bruce Ware, and A.W. Pink.
An irresistibly applied saving grace is consistent with the Calvinist system of salvation.
Calvinism’s logic is clear:
1. No one can believe the gospel due to Total Depravity
2. God desires to save some unconditionally – the elect
3. Nothing must be allowed to thwart God’s desire
4. So a saving grace must be irresistibly applied to the elect alone – to guarantee their salvation.
Since this grace causes the sinner to be born again and thus enables a sinner to believe the gospel, then regeneration precedes faith. One must be born again to believe the gospel. However, the Bible's sequence is clear: believe the gospel in order to be born again.
