Scars take time and patience: you've been very encouraging with your knowledge, so people won't wanna give up.

My mom had three sisters and one brother and she was the only one with oily skin and acne. Her sisters and brother never had a pimple in their whole life, perfect skin. This resulted in her battling acne breakouts until her mid 30s, early 40s. Sure enough, I inherited the oily skin and suffered with acne from my late teens to mid 20s. It left behind many scars, not big ones, but enough to bug me a lot. I'm much older now and still think about doing something about them. I have a tanned looking complexion so I'm a little concerned about hyperpigmentation, but would risk it just to minimize these annoying scars. Like many folks saddled with this problem, treatment should be covered by insurance, after all, it affects you psychologically. Society is so obsessed with clear skin, it makes you feel like you're the bad guy.

I had severe acne when I was in high school, and later scarring after graduating. It was insane how depressed and anxiety ridden I was, that I couldn't even focus on my classes as I should have. Then finding out insurance doesn't cover acne scarring treatments was devastating. So I just learned to live with severe anxiety on a day to day basis. To this day.

I had acne from the time I was 14. The more I aged, the worse it became. By 28, I was desperate and a dermatologist prescribed accutane ( not sure of spelling), heavy duty stuff w/ serious side effects for some. End of first treatment, still had acne…tho it was less…so I was prescribed second round. This took care of the problem for about three years, then it was back and progressively getting worse. I still had acne at my fiftieth birthday.
I read up on possible causes, dairy products that were treated with hormones seemed to be on of the thoughts of a cause. Being a heavy abuser of milk, I switched to organic dairy that week.
My acne was gone within a month, and never reappeared. Ten years later, still no acne. My poor older brother suffered from acne his entire life, he’s in his 70s now, and finally it’s gone.
I’d think about getting the scars removed, but the wrinkles show more, lol!

I’ve been looking at serious options over the course of some years now to better my scars and I think I will try a chemical peel since I’m not looking into surgery, and I’m darker skinned. Thank you! I’m so so happy you did this informational video of acne scars. Big fan! 💜

Great information, but the editing was kind of annoying. All the swooshing sounds over the fast text made it hard to follow.

Probably the most helpful video I have seen for acne scarring and I have seen many… Thank you Dr. Linkov!

Rolling scars and deep boxcar scars are tethered to deeper facial structures with fibrous tissue. Subcision (with blunt cannula, Nokor needle or even a Taylor Liberator) is necessary to break that fibrous tethering and lift the scars. There is not a single energy device that is able to do so. Subcision is actually a very important treatment option that should have been mentioned in your video.

I have a combination of all scars on my face, back and shoulders. Picking was the worst thing I did to my skin. I am seeing some good results with tretinoin cream after about a year, but I could definitely use some chemical peels and dermabrasion!

Im lucky enough to have cystic acne, hyperpigmentation, and atrophic scars on my face, as well as keloid scars on my chest and shoulders. I am truly defeated, everyday before my shower i just sit and cry hoping one day i can overcome this never ending battle with my insecurities,

I'm getting microneedling done for acne scars on Monday wooo hoo!! I'm glad it's on the list

As dark skin, I feel like micro-needling is my only option, I have to live with the acne scars, because all these options can cause hyperpigmentation :/
Went through two separate courses of accutane and still have acne, and I do know that’s it’s either diary or chocolate, but isotretnoin topical is a life saver, both acne and scars, if you’re like me, I recommend it the most

What a great presentation of information: carefully thought-over, precise structure, dynamic and comprehensible content.

I find the tretinoin and sunscreen I use have helped a lot with the appearance of my scarring.
