Freckles are a normal variant skin tone, it is mostly seen in fair skin races and also seen in all races across. These are clusters of melanin producing cells or pigment producing cells that are normal in number but the amount of melanin producing is more on certain ares on the skin so it looks like specs of pigment on the skin. It is a normal change there is no risk of cancer or anything like that, but it does get aggravated by sun exposure , once the UV rays hits the cells it is stimulated and produce more pigment, So a good sunscreen is mandatory if somebody is concerned about the cosmetic appearance of these freckles. Other treatments like cosmetic peals helps to a certain extent but always prevention with sunscreen is the best. And if they are resistant to these regular treatments we can also go in foe a laser, we usually use endiaec laser to target these cells and to a certain extent we eliminate the cell itself so that the capacity to produce pigment is less and other option who don't want to go for a treatment is camouflage, we can actually give a cosmetic option for these people it is like a foundation but more resistant to wiping of or even sweat. So these are various options available for freckles, its just a cosmetic problem if patient is concerned we give them these options.
