From the album Gigi (Guramayle), 2001. Ejigayehu Shibabaw, known by her stage name Gigi, is one of the most successful contemporary Ethiopian singers worldwide. She has brought the music of Ethiopia to wider recognition and developed it in combination with a wide variety of other genres.

As a proud Ethiopian who grew up with extreme pride, moral and values, I always think about this music as the soundtrack for the movie "Adwa" we should make. We Ethiopians living inside & outside of Ethiopian must come up with the financial means to fund and create a Hollywood-style movie titled "Adwa" [At any cost, be it 100 million or more US dollars] which will tell the story about the sacrifices made by our forefathers who walked bare foot with little on their backs just because they refused to bow down to a colonial empire. Our forefathers won the battle not because they well more trained or more equipped but because they had truth in their hearts and boiling courage in their bloods. We Ethiopians all over the world should contribute what we can (in terms of money, cinematography, history.. ) to make this movie a reality and dedicate it as a tribute to our forefathers. Please let's seriously think about it! I will contribute what I can
