This is how it starts. Today its micro-drones... tomorrow it's the T1000, full on Skynet.

We have to presume that these drones can be fitted with enough munitions to destroy targets which could be useful on the battlefield. It won't do anything against a large carrier or destroyer ship at sea. A lot would depend upon the delivery systems used for these drones and their size to be able to make a decisive attack on an enemy target.

Interesting test, I do wonder what the envisioned use for these is. With such small drones, It seems to me that you would run into some severe range issues, and due to lack of power, rather severe electronic warfare vulnerabilities. It seems like the Army would benefit from these more than anyone, since they fight at relatively short ranges, often in front of more sophisticated electronic warfare capabilities.

However I do think swarm drone techonolgy, in some form would be a formidable opponent to field. Maybe not in this form factory, but weapons equipt... WTF could you do against 100s of drones firing appropriate ordance for whatever your unit is ( armored or infantry etc.... ) You couldnt stop it! Even a Phallanx mini gun which is equipt on most US navy ships can only fire for a very limited time before running out of Ammo. I forget the exact but 30 or 60 seconds? Something like that? It could put up a hell of a fight during that time but with 100s of incoming drones it just couldnt handle it. Even if you have several. Nothing could. No one could. A large drone swarm would be indefensible.
