To be worthy of its purpose, the RS Cosworth got a new engine management system, a new turbocharger, and has a permanent four-wheel drive, unlike the Escort Cosworth, which is an RWD. However, a permanent all-wheel drive of the Ford Escort Cosworth was later produced, yet, it was still a far cry from the RS Cosworth.
