My problem with Caracalla's portrayal in Gladiator 2 wasn't that he was evil, but that it was the *wrong* kind of evil. Caracalla was a mass murderer and a fratricide, yes, but he wasn't a decadent hedonist, he was actually a veteran soldier and renowned for his strength of body and spartan habits. I think he would have fit better as an iron fisted military dictator rather than some demented child

Ok, ik neither of them were innocent, but the line "he died holding her skirts" just got me for some reason. The mental image of a son desperately grasping onto his mother in his final moments.

Honestly, with Emperors like Nero, Caligula, and these two feuding toddlers, they make the Khans of the Mongol Empire look like saints

Fun fact: there's actually a ceramic vase-thing that has a portrait depicting younger Caracalla, Geta and their parents that still survives today in a museum. However, Geta's face was scratched out from the portrait (most likely by Caracalla himself).

Their dad should have done what the early emperors did - adopt someone, preferably an outstanding military leader with good political sense, and name him as the next emperor... And if possible marry him to your daughter so your line will still be connected to the imperial rulership

Like their storyline would have been good dark comedy.
Maybe Drunken History should try that.
