3 weeks with my new SP and it’s by far my favorite bike so far and I have owned a lot of them!

Wasn't going to watch this but then I saw it was presented by Mr S H, so definitely worth the watch. 👍

Here in Japan, we are still waiting for them too. 😮. Officially, the launch date was 24th of July, but visiting various dealers, no one has them. Unless probably in Tokyo

Ive ordered one. It was a tough decision as the difference in $ between standard and the sp is significant. In the end, i didnt want to regret not getting the sp. i have the gen 2 sp so i wanted the new one to replace it. Its supposed to arrive this month.

Still waiting for mine... as I see others have already received theirs. Good lesson in patience!

Simon, thanks for an excellent review albeit a quick one. I’ve been waiting for a Bennett’s review to get a feel for real road riding on the MT09 SP as opposed to the other very recent reviews which show skids & Wheelies, which doesn’t really tell us normal bikers a great deal about normal everyday riding. Cheers 👍

I love mine so far. If you are riding two up, the upgraded suspension is helpful. My wife rides with me periodically and the suspension has worked will with her on the back. It is a little harsh for me going over expansion bumps. I probably would have got it for the color scheme alone.

SP things that appeal to me the most: Stylema brakes, rear-ABS-off.
That's about it. I know for me, I'd upgrade the stock suspension to better stuff than the SP has, with springs that suit my weight, and higher end damping. For most of the stuff I'd be doing on an MT-09, the lower cost model would be plenty honestly. I'd upgrade it over time when I'd gotten completely used to it. More money for ECU flash, exhaust, other stuff.

That was a great review. No bollocks. Just a short cut to the meat.

I put a deposit down in January in the U.S. they told me by june.. they are saying they haven't heard anything from yamaha. Everyone is getting theirs. I'm wondering if my shop even put the order in on time.. nice review!

Like the upgraded damping, but not the stiffer spring rates that comes along with it.
Good review stating how the differences between models actually feel for road riding. The standard bike will suit my needs best as I have no intentions of riding an MT on track.

Good run down on the mt 09 I love the look of these and I love Yamaha and £11, 800 I think is a descent price for that maybe I’m wrong wether I’d buy one 🤷‍♂️ I don’t know would be nice to have along side my rocket gt different style and still loads of fun

You cannot tell if Brembos are better than stanard brakes on the road? Wow...

Is it better than a 1050 Speed Triple R with Ohlins?

TO MAKE IT BETTER: 1) Triple cylinder front-brakes; 2) Dual cylinder rear-brakes; 3) 9 in color TFT display with little to no frame (unusable screen space); 4) Optional OEM windscreen; 5) Optional fairing parts (belly-pan, side panels); 6) Backlit handlebar buttons; 7) Textured gel seat; 8) Single-sided swingarm would be a huge bonus. 🙂
