I am making a series of professional development videos and PDFs for the new material in the IB curriculum on matrices and eigenvalues and their applications. Complex numbers are needed, so I thought I'd explain where they come from too!

Fantastic way of looking at it. In the 1D case, how would you explain that multiplying by -1 isn't a reflection in a line passing through 0 perpendicular to the number line? Wouldn't that also work at that stage?

I think all classroom teachers should use this through the glass method. No more turning your back on the students. Also Covid19 friendly.
