For EVAP you don't want over 1 psi or 28 inches water column. I've built a few of them using common BBQ regulators, those run at about .5 psi.

Nice review 👍. I hadn't thought about fitting an external regulator to protect the cars evap system, Great idea.
I have had success diagnosing with mine. For the cost I'm very happy with it.

I have one. Found a po442 and 456. Have to be careful with the psi pressure. I kept it at 1 to 6 psi. Baby oil is fine. Best thing is price and built in pump

No good for EVAP. No leak detection ball and it puts out to much pressure. I appreciate your review.

squeeze most the air out of oil bottle and close it, it it seals tight and doesn't allow air back in, it will allow for thermal expansion and not pressurize making it leak :)

Just bought the same one, first thing i did was install a longer better quality hose, Other than that and the lack of lower ( below 5 ) psi pressure control it seems to be a pretty good tool. Thinking about changing the gauge to a lower scale digital. And yea you definitely don't wanna go above 2 psi on evap systems ( evap specific testers don't even reach 1 psi ).

I like everything about it except the high PSI for EVAP. There are a lot of square inches on a fuel tank! FTP sensors are not tolerant. Canister won't like it either.
I bet this machine is kickass for vacuum leaks though!

just curious what is the amp draw when pumping and smoking? if you had a hard to find i wouldnt want to run a customers battery down.

Cuba! Stay out of the cold! I don't do the out crap no more. Glad to you are plugging away. I put a in line regulator on my smoke machine.
