WHICH SMOKE MACHINE SHOULD YOU BUY?!? REDLINE VS AUTOOL MR CARTOOL

In today's video I share with you my newest tool. A Mr Cartool T130 Leak detection smoke machine. This tool is used to test engines for vacuum and oil leaks, as well as EVAP and exhaust systems. This smoke machine is great because it does not require any shop air compressor supply. It has a built in air compressor, so it is %100 mobile. The low price makes this tool a great deal, but the main question I have is. How does this tool stack up to my old school expensive Redline smoke machine? Watch as I put my two smoke machines side by side and compare the different features. We will talk about the pros and cons of both smoke machines, so that you can make the right decision when it comes to purchasing your own.

You must be crazy spending $2100.00 for the redline smoke machine.

Thank you for your time and videos! I greatly appreciate them.
This is what i was warned about with the Mr. Cartool=
pressure gauge is worthless - flow meter is worthless.
but it makes good smoke and good pressure. Do not buy this for evap testing. It would probably work well for intercooler testing.

Thank you for being honest. I greatly appreciate that and your knowledge you share!👑

That’s a hell of a price especially coming with the air bladder

A buddy of mine had to pay for a customer's car he damaged using this smoke machine. I wouldn't recommend anyone buying this to test evap systems. U can't regulate that machine even if u try. It cost more in damages to even risk going that cheap for a smoke machine. Only thing that machine would be good for is testing turbo leaks. Because u can use it safely for the Psi requirement to check for leaks. I don't think the manufacturer should be able to even say this is a evap smoke machine. A professional shop would never attempt to use it in their shop

I loaned my redline smoker to a friend and guess what he broke? Yep, the flow valve. And he denied breaking it. Smh. I replaced the valve and now i no longer loan it out.

I bought one of the car tool units and returned it. Too much pressure unless you are testing a turbo intercooler. I needed it for evap and you can't regulate it low enough.

That pump is way too powerful if you're smoking down vacuum lines. 1psi is ~0.007mpa... that would barely register on the gauge. Buyers be careful!

Great video Eric. Great review! I agree that it is probably too much pressure. I really love the Mr Cartool device. It's self contained! But I diagnosed a leaking intake manifold on a Chevy. When it was cold an air leak would develop. I had to turn the pressure kinda high to open up the leak. A 1 psi pressure wouldn't have opened up the leak to reveal it. I agree that it has too much pressure. Imagine a gas tank having 15 PSI in it from the machine. You should talk to the people of the device to redesign it to allow the pressure to be lower and regulate-able.

All units with built in air supply is not good for evap testing. You could very easily over expand a plastic fuel tank or create other damage. Better to stay with an external air operated unit like the RedLine.

gracias por compartir esta bien por que trae el compresor incluido y no necesitas mas psi

I have this unit and all you have to do is add a low-pressure regulator before the flow gauge. Modify a propane regulator and you are good.

I’ve missed your longer videos like this. You’re a busy guy, so I know they are inconvenient for you. Thanks for making inimitable quality videos.

Nice video. Fyi MPa stands for Mega Pascal's not Mili Pascal
0.25 MPa = 36.2 psi

Seeing that some of your tools are disorganized makes me feel better about the way I see my shoo and tools sometimes! Glad I’m not the only one who loses random tools in weird places lol. I appreciate the candor and you taking the time to post another video for us guys. Thanks Eric! ✊🏾

Green smoke machine might not work for my 2002 Chevy EVAP system but it sure looks like I can use it on my 1979 300sd Mercedes (w116).
