Simple Tool for Building ICF to the Roof

This simple tool is very effective when building an ICF structure to the roof. It’s difficult to have a frame of reference when you're starting from bare ground or floor on what heights to set your windows at, where to place your counter tops, backsplash etc.

We also use the storyboard for determining where to cut our blocks for window bucks, the height of our headers, hanger elevations, beam pockets, floor joists, exterior siding, you name it. It’s quite possibly the most effective tool when using insulated concrete forms.

With the 'storyboard', it takes away all of the thinking. Use this simple tool on the jobsite and you'll never look back again!

YESSSS! Great vid Kody ... it's sooo important to use story boards for brick and sometimes siding and many things. Sound is great too btw. Hope your week is going perfectly.

It is very beneficial to have very level footings with ICF. Then every few courses compress the ICFs so that there is less compression when you pour. With Nudura, we will hear the interlock clicking tighter when we pour.

Thanks for the great info!
Wondering if you have done and story and a half builds were exterior main and upper walls all do not overlap? I assume the open span below would have an ibeam so one could stack blocks on it for the upper walls not aligning either lower?

I love you Kody, but that story board looks off by more than 1/4"

What width block do you typically use?

My ICF supplier offered to pre-cut all the blocks for all the openings and we only have to assemble the whole thing according to the plan and numbers on each block. It's worth the little extra.

So are you purposely ignoring the block settling on the story pole? This is the first time I noticed the settling effect post concrete pour. Thanks for the vid.

What are the red rods in the rebar slots in the top of the wall?

Those roof protrusions are a shame. Would have been nice to have a clean south side roof for solar panels
