My son, I am impressed with your hack! I was getting frustrated with my Krupp Burr Grinder because of the static electricity generated. Now, I am all good to go. No mess! Thanks.

This absolutely works. Thank you. I wish Dualit knew this trick as when I asked them about it, I was told all sorts of nonsense. At last, no more ground coffee all over the place every morning!

WOW! To think that I’ve been grinding beans and dealing with the mess for 5 years and it end today. Even trashed a Capresso Infinity Plus after 3 years and started purchasing beans a Costco and grinding 2 pounds using their grinder. Great “hack”! Thanks!

I just stumbled across your video. Nice! I've used my large Brim Burr Grinder for about 4-5 years now and it has always done the static thing. My previous Braun Grinder I had for 13 yrs and finally one day just stopped working ALWAYS did the static thing. My only concern is that this method is only good for if you don't actually use the hopper for keeping the coffee in vs just pouring 'enough' coffee in for one serving or pot at a time. Otherwise definitely seems like a nice 'save'.

Fantastic it works, my feed hopper was half full of whole beans, two or three drops of water on them from a wet paper towel then top up with beans and grind. No static no mess your the man big thumbs up from the UK

I now just add a modicum of H2O to my bag of whole beans, works perfectly, time saver. Nice to eliminate a step. Also Keep my slightly moistened beans in the freezer. Zero "flyby" static upon grinding. 1/2 Teaspoon per lb or so....shake it like a polaroid picture in the bag (Most of my beans come in nice resealable bags with the one way valves)

thank you! I have the same grinder and the same issue. I used to exhale into the removable collector to add moisture (to reduce static), but your approach seems much better since it addresses the stuck grounds in the grinder discharge hole. well done!

I'll have to test this next time I grind coffee because I just spent several minutes cleaning my kitchen because the grinds flew everywhere. I even tried to cup my hand around the dispenser and they flew against my hand and still got in a mess around the grinder itself. Smh. I can't believe static is the culprit here. Fascinating. I was worried my grinder was somehow clogged or something.

Hmm. Tried as described in my Cuisinart Burr Grinder and although only slightly better...the static is still there. Glad it works for most of you.

You are a genius! I have a manual burr grinder from Olde Thompson that has a plastic reservoir at the bottom. The ground coffee would always stick to the bottom of the metal grinder and to the sides of the plastic canister. I had to use a brush to get the grinds off. This time, I squeezed a few drops of water from a wet paper towel over the whole beans and then ground the coffee. There was no coffee sticking to the grinder or the canister. Amazing! Thanks so much!!!

I use the water trick with the Krups version of this grinder. I also use a rubber band around the whole unit to keep the collector basket from working out and getting grinds behind it.

I wonder if oil would work as well as water. Of course, oil and water have different properties and coffee beans already contain oil, but I wonder if it would be worth a try. At least it would avoid the rusting issue one of the commenters experienced.

Brian is awesome!!!! Thank you for the trick for grinding coffee without all the static!!!
Question Brian: what if you use you coffee bean grinder to store beans? Will the water droplets compromise the beans stored in the hopper?
