LUSH Quick Tips: Soap

We're known as a "cosmetics deli" and our scent-sational soaps are part of the reason why. Made fresh, by hand they're Naked and you can buy them by weight. Leigh stopped by one of our shops to share her favorite reasons why LUSH soap is different from all the rest.

My grandma got me a big chunk of the soap she's holding...and the limited edition Over the Rainbow soap...on Mother's Day, I chopped both up into little chunks and tossed the pieces into two separate Ziplock bags, now I just pull a piece out when I need it, and I don't have to worry about the soap dissolving too quickly from being in the shower :) It lasts as long as I need it to!

One of the best ingredients for cooling sun burns on the skin is calamine powder--which you will find in Fresh Farmacy Facial Soap (which can be used all over the body, too) or DreamWash Shower Smoothie, which is not a solid bar of soap but more like a conditioning, soothing cream wash for the skin. Another thought for skin that needs extra conditioning is our seaweed-rich, luxurious Shower Jellies. These will wash skin, but leave a rich softness to the touch from seaweed and glycerine.

Hi, Monisha- We're not totally sure what effect you are seeking? If you like Aqua Marina for your face, but want something that lathers up like soap--try Fresh Farmacy, which is a facial soap but certainly can be used all over the body. Calamine powder in the soap base creates a milky, calming lather that soothes skin and creates a matte, cool finish for the skin. Also try the Shower Jellies for lather all-over the body! They are filled with toning seaweed, (much like Aqua Marina.)

Hi, ryankimo - All skin is different, and people's preferences range, too! LUSH has soap intended for the face (Fresh Farmacy or Coal Face Facial Soaps) that are formulated with specific needs common to facial skin (oiliness, breakouts, etc). These ones Leigh is showing off in the video are intended as hand and body soaps, and might be too drying on facial skin. They may work well for some people, though--up to each user! They are safe, but avoid the eyes, as you would any soap.

A few tips for getting the most out of your soap...
Get wet, and scrub with the soap out of the spray, then set the bar of soap in a dry-ish place (it's a shower after all) while you lather away. Hot water will melt the bar faster, so a little caution will preserve it best. Or, another favorite tip is to cut off a small slice of soap from the larger block before each shower. That way, you have guaranteed fresh product stashed dry and safe for next time. Maybe other viewers have suggestions?

The nice thing about naked products without packaging is of course, preventing the packaging going into the landfill later, but at the same time most people dont wash their hands after the bathroom, and then people like to pick stuff up to look at it and put it back.. getting that bacteria on that product. I dont mind naked products, but I prefer packaged products that are recycleable or will biodegrade quickly.
