Will Hyperloop ever become a reality? What do you think?

If one ignores physics, reality and common sense, musk's white paper is a marvelous achievement. Genius.

The Chinese have just debuted a vacuum assisted maglev train that has achieved over 600mph. This information was released earlier this week.

"What happened" to the hyperloop is that Elon sold the concept to another company and moved on to other things, several years back. The only reason other startups have failed to successfully develop the concept, quite simply, is because Elon is no longer involved. If he was, his typical bulldog aggressive problen solving engineering approach, combined with the ability to bring huge sums of capital and hordes of talented engineers to any project he deems important enough, would by now have resulted in an impressive demonstration track at the very least. Love him or hate him, you have to admit that he gets s**t done.

Being an optimist, the hyper loop must continue to fruition, and perfection.

It ended on the scrap belt!! Do not look any further!!

The problems they are having is not that tech is hard to make. It's that they want to transport people when it's the cargo shippment that matters.

People need to first understand that shipping cargo faster than jet is all has be. If it can send products from east cpst to west cost within a couple hours that is a total revolution within cargo transportation

if something hit and dented a segment of the tube while it was operating, if the vacuum was preserved and the dent stoped the pod suddenly, you'd have to scrape passengers off the front end of the pod with a spatula. That and the possibility of pods being jammed or otherwise stopped in the tubes kills the concept for me.. Far too dangerous.

With the current super-fast evolution of technology, new modes of transport, new types of vehicles and new fuels for new engines will emerge.

This should be an open-source project with incentives to each milestone. It should not be that difficult.

I have traveled in the channel tunnel as have many millions it has been operating for quite some time nothing new there.

Another Barnum & Bailey sideshow, but whose ticket cost is in the $billions.

Musk was never serious about H-L and only proposed it to divert attention and funds from the Californian High Speed Rail project, because he hates railways. He has never invested in H-L apart from showing up at publicity events. His friend Richard Branson, a man of limited intellect, believed it though, and was the main investor in the failed Hyperloop One.

I am a professional engineer with a background in public transport and heavy engineering. I have read Musk's "White Paper" and it's bullshit. Musk is technically minded, but just an engineering amateur.

@1:42, @2:51, @3:36, The cars on lifts and in tunnels are the Loop idea, really nothing to do with Hyperloop.

@3:56 - You seem unaware that Hyperloop One has abandoned the idea completely, even for cargo.

@7:03 - The Boring Company is just a tunnelling company, nothing directly to do with Hyperloop, which may or may not have used tunnels.

@7:13 - The Boring Company's Loop tunnel systems are intended as urban taxi routes, not _inter-city_ transport.

In Vegas Boring company should make multiple exits brunching at the end of the tunnel, eliminating the bottle neck. That should increase the cost of the entire project. The slow down at destination point is expected, that's why multiple exits are needed. It is cheaper to make multiple exits on the surface, but if the surface space is limited, then you have to dig them underground or perhaps building a 5 story highway tower with multiple exits like in China at the modern bridge exit. So it definitely needs a multiple exit upgrade and depending on purpose it might need spiral parking garages at the destination points. So if the slow down speed at the end 5 - 10 miles/h and desired tunnel speed is 100 m/h, then 100/5= number of end exits you will need. Speed trains in Moscow metro run every 30 sec. - the tightest at 70km/h, but with the train you have enormous volume, unlike with the car, wile tunnel capacity is the same. So car transport is a very wasteful way in comparison to a metro and should be designed differently with multiple branches and multiple exits at destinations. USA highways are clattered because they were not designed properly for high traffic at destination points and lack multiple exits, because those are costly and if you make them underground, even more so. Perhaps a flying car would be a solution, but you need an autopilot navigation to avoid the air collissions.

This Hyper-loop should be excellent transportation for long distance travel if Safety is put into consideration first, considering passengers would be in a tube. God forbid there's any accidents or other unforeseen incidences there should be an outlet for
such occurrence. For an example if one has a sudden heart attack, or a woman is in labor, or a terror attack. There should be
an outlet for such occurrence.
