I have successfully flashed Gapps aroma for marshmallow(Google package-Play store and Google play services) and had selected Google assistant in advanced options....but still when I long press the home button, Google assistant doesn't open. Please help bro..

No need for root. Just run Google and Google play services in beta mode. That's what I do on mine.
