California education officials to release school reopening guidelines

The state's superintendent of schools is set to release guidelines for reopening California schools.

The latest guidelines may cause additional anxiety and confusion for the parents. There should be a simple class structure implemented. Perhaps have 1-2 days of instruction per week for all grade levels. But, the days are extended an additional few hours. Or, have shortened class hours per day. For example, students start 8 am and go to noon. They can grab a school lunch and take home. Their parents may prep at-home lunches for them. They may purchase lunch for them. Anyway, class ends at 12 pm. Staying home long-term for online instruction may not be sustainable. It is difficult to measure and quantify a student's performance. Students at home are more likely to be distracted, disengaged, and digress to other activities, such as video games and social media.
