I absolutely love Mother 1, it's my favorite NES game, but at the same time, it's an NES rpg and has not aged nearly as well as the other two games in the series have. It's still an amazing game and if you like older rpgs I think it should be played, I almost cried

EarthBound’s definitely my favorite of the three just because of the atmosphere, writing, and just how weird it is and cosmic horror it gets later. EarthBound’s actually one of my favorite games of all time. Mother 3 has a better story but the bizarre tone of EarthBound is just too good on a personal level for me.

I have no idea how to handle "which X is the best" questions without either deferring to ad populum or making myself look completely insane so I just voted MOTHER 1 (my subjective personal favorite) for both of these questions

EDIT: Actually I think it might've been EarthBound I did this for? I can't remember with clarity but it was definitely one of the two and I definitely voted the same game for both best and worst. In EarthBound's case though it would've been done in the spirit of, like, a weird attempt to "skip the questions" by giving answers that "canceled out", haha

Mother 3 & EarthBound are my favorite videogames of all time, and i actually started playing Mother 1 and i really like it

This is why I really hope Mother Encore is finished because Mother 1’s main weakness is the gameplay and level design imo

Mother 1 is not my favourite but there are things I really like about it. In some ways is one of the best NES games but has aged very poorly. I really wish they would remake it so it could shine as bright as the other 2.

Mother 3 has great character moments and emotional pull, but I enjoy the journey and dungeon progression of EarthBound.

Earthbound just has more.. spice, to it. Even though I love the other 2 games I find myself going back to it the most.

Honestly, there’s no wrong answer as to which game is the best. All three are amazing, despite their flaws

Surprised to see 3 on top. I think it is the best but I think a majority start with 2 (and would form a bias as result)

the series peaked with the last game and it makes me want more because they just scratched the surface with that they can do

I always thought that Mother 3 is the better made game, but Mother 2 has always been more fun to me. It's much easier to replay and I think Mother 2's characters are funnier
