Am a hard rock kind of guy, my friend invited me to a concert in Greeley Colorado at the independence stampede in the early 70s Out walks this guy with a green suit with gold sequin roosters embroidered on it and I was like WTF is this ? Marty Robbins that’s what, I became a big fan .

Marty was his own genre. No other like him.

I've heard several versions of this song. I used to think Johnny Cash did it best. Now I know better. Nobody does a western song better than Marty Robbins.

I grew up in the 50's and 60's listening to this type of music. Still love to listen to it almost 70 years later/

Marty Robbins was so good. He didn’t let a weak ticker slow him down. He lived life to the fullest until his heart gave out. I miss him.

Saw Marty Robbins at Grand Ole Opry in 1968 & the big hit was Streets of Laredo. don't know if he did this, but it was the late show, & he continued well after GOO went off the air. It was an experience never to be forgotten.

From my mom's LP collection, Marty Robbins became part of my soul; at 70 yrs old I can still feel his music in my bones.

No one sang songs like, Marty Robbins, he had more feeling, and compassion in his songs then most singers. He sang these songs like he experienced them at some time in his life, that's what made him so much different then all the rest. I have been listening to his music growing up, and to this day l still love his songs, RIP Marty Robbins.
