Government backs IPPs to increase energy output

GOVERNMENT is stepping up efforts to boost its support to Independent Power Producers (IPPs) as part of a broader drive to diversify the country’s energy sources and meet Vision 2030 targets.

The commitment was emphasised by Finance and Economic Development and Investment Promotion Minister, Professor Mthuli Ncube during the tour of Nyangani Renewable Energy (NRE)’s hydropower station in Honde Valley last Saturday.

Minister Ncube hailed the role being played by private sector investments in bolstering the country’s power supply, and stressed on the importance of diversified energy mix
