I think Csepella Olivér did it right with his Nyugat + Zombik book
He started a crowd funder, but already had the character designs, the basic story and some panel sketches up on his site
It's an amazing comic, tho i'm not sure it's available in English, and it's like
Very Hungarian, full of poem references

I don't know how many people would actually pay money for a comic that hasn't even been made

I have the physical book version of my favorite Webcomic because I can't have the app its on. It makes it easier for me, but I dont see why people would really even pay for something that doesn't exist?

Idk if someone could answer me but, how is that gradient colouring made? I mean the dots that progressively grow.

I remember backing a Kickstarter for a physical release of a webcomic and I felt guilty afterwards because the author had so many posts about how they actually underestimated how much they needed despite exceeding goals so the printing process +backer gifts ended up cutting into their own funds but they still delivered despite that. Apparently t shirts are a bad idea

my mom wants me to do this for my art and stickers and the fact that she doesn't understand why it's bad really drains me, especially when I'm trying to actually make the products and she just ignores everything I do 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️😓

The only time this works is if the creator already has a following based around their other comics or something similar.
