The Chilling True Story Behind 'The Vanishing'

Off the northwest coast of Scotland is a small chain of islands called the Hebrides. At its outer edges is a cluster of islands, the Flannan Isles, which is home to the Flannan Isles mystery. Despite all of the attention the story has attracted, the mystery remains unsolved: why would the keepers venture into the storm without their coats? What was the meaning of their strange, final log entry? What does this have in common with tales of other mysterious lighthouses?

I have heard about the three men disappeared in that lighthouse and the mystery is unsolved to this day.

Nah, I doubt it was a wave. Donald would have had his jacket on also, and kitchen a mess is odd too. Chairs tipped over etc. I tend to more believe it was a strange boat or pirates showed up. More along the lines of what the movie suggested. These guys were experienced workers and if the weather was that bad, I highly doubt they'd be low enough where the raging sea could take them, let alone all 3 of them.

I watched a different video last week, new release, about this very topic and they said that the log entries are bogus. The explanation was that the log is strictly for facts about being a lighthouse attendant and I tend to agree. Keepers didn't treat that book like their personal diary.

Pirates could have envaded them at the lighthouse. Things in disarray where the pirates searching for food and goods. Took the men prisoner back to their ship.

This was fun but I can't even imagine what must've happend with those poor men, aliens ghosts violent souls? Who knows? Even the most considered conclusion of being swept by a giant wave and drowning in the sea is quite horrible 🙄

It's amazing the fantasies that people come up with to account for a mystery. Fairies, ghosts, aliens, god? I wish people could accept that some things, as yet, are unexplained, and may never be.

Can someone explain who the kid was that showed up after the big fight? I didn't catch it. Also, how were the 2 men able to get on the island while the boat still circled? (unless the kid was steering the boat and docked it afterwards).
