Only problem with #1...the beds are actually bolted to the ground...so you can't put lids of water under the legs.

I've only done UK Prisons. When a battery runs out put it under the chair in your cell and crush it, only slightly, and you'll get more life from it.
Toothpaste is great for sticking pics to the wall.
Most prisons give you your own little kettle now and you can cook all tin foods in it, put a little hole in the tin first, boil eggs.
The bedding they give you is great to pull threads from it, tie them together for a line to next cell.
In prison they give you these little plasticity mirrors, they were meant to be screwed into the walls so they have 4 little holes in the corners, you can tie a line to that and then kick the mirror under the door and due to the gaps at the bottom of a cell door it will slide under the door of the geezer opposite.
You can splinter of a piece of plastic of the plastic cutlery and stick it into the hole where the lock is, when the screw locks the door at bang up, he thinks it's locked but it's possible to pop the door open.
In one jail the Governor banned sugar because of how much hooch was getting made, we just bought the highest sugar content sweets (called pinballs) of the canteen sheet and job done coz they done exactly the same.
You can make a phone charger from kettle wire, or TV wire.
You can also get a light by putting a plastic spoon into the top hole on a plug, put wire into the bottom 2 holes, fill up a deodorant cap with water, touch the wires and sparks will light toilet roll and there's your flame.
Get yourself to Chapel, get a Bible as that makes great cigarette papers/rizla.

My ex had spent time in prison. He made this food once he said they called breakdown. Bag of cheap potato chips, crush them up. Pour a cup of ramen noodles in and some tuna. Mix it all up still in the bag. Open out the bag, drizzle with honey, and there you go. It's definitely different.

Here's one for you, You could also use two paper clips to make an electronic kettle/coffee cup.
If you unwind the paper clips into two separate L shapes, then fill your cup with water & coffee (or tea or whatever) then use something (non conductive) to put one end of each paper clip into the power point/wall socket (not in the same exact whole obviously) then you can just hold your beverage under the power point just enough to where the two paper clips are dipped simultaneously in the beverage, it will heat up your beverage like a kettle.
P.s make sure the paper clips don't touch one another when they're live or you'll blow out your power point lol

The bed posts in jar lids don't make sense. I thought their beds were bolted to the concrete?

We used to take batteries and put them in the track of the door so it wouldn't shut/engage lock. Than when guard left we could roam around or occasionally attack somebody. This doesnt work all the time. Newer jails and prisons have sensors that tell guards if door is ajar. Also any guard with half a brain will manually pull on each door to make sure its locked. If anybody makes a comment saying "oh that's great that you attack somebody" its prison! Dont go if you cant handle violence
