So after attack on titan final chapter special part 3 whatever edition released I thought a bit about how screwed one must be during the rumbling.

Then I thought about it some more and realised that maybe it´s not as bad as we thought.

I dont think you are able to be on a boat and have it go under you, as when the fleet was destroyed, the titans didnt even touch them, they just went under them and the steam either basically boiled everybody on the ship and then threw the ships in the air.
I think the most deadly part of the rumbling isnt getting stomped on, but the extreme heat.

I think everyone forget that the titans release steam, it could change the climate, sudden increase of carbon that goes to atmosphere due to fires and destruction, you might escape the rumbling but you wont survive the aftermath

Underground/cave doesn't work as the steam that came out from their bodies could possibly cook you alive underground..

tbh as soon as I found out that the Rumbling was something that has been threatened for a hundred years I realized that it was no longer really a threat. Every military in the world and most civilians would have build deep, reinforced shelters for it over the last century. It would be a core component of urban design. Maybe some nations populated by stupid people wouldn't build such shelters, but in our own world Russia and Switzerland at least have this level of protection, and even America has several major underground installations that would survive both nuclear war and the Rumbling no problem. Just gotta be sure you can dig back to the surface, and have enough supplies for a year or two while you get agriculture back up and running.
The big loss is the wildlife. Really the largest problem would be the lack of pollenators. All burned up unless many people had the foresight to take bees into their shelters.

The rumbling becomes more and more illogical the more you think about it.

Why weren’t countries preparing for emergency evacuations? How does 80% of the world die from something that moved at the speed of 10mph
