Today I'm testing the $72 Hoverpen which stands on its tip when not in use. It is said to be a good gift idea, but only if it works!

FYI, the point of the "quick brown fox" sentence is that it uses every letter of the alphabet which is why you see it in typeface samples. But in your variation it's missing the D and the G, which is why normally you see "lazy dog" instead of "lazy river".

I've seen cheaper versions of this pen/magnet over the years. The cost is way too high!!! And frankly it's just a gimmick, that overtime, gets put away and forgotten about. Thanks for your review, James.

Hard buy at $72. I'd probably lose the cap and end up with a over-priced pen, and not a fan of the fine tip. But excellent review.

Cool idea, but I don't know why they couldn't have made the tip retractable, either via twist or click mechanism, and just had the steel/magnetic cap built into the pen instead of a separate piece.

$72 is too much for me and I would also not consider it to actually "hover". It should be called the "self-standing" pen. Thanks for another informative review!

It's nice but really trying to wrap my head around the "why"

Very cool concept, although I've seen similar items over the years for less cost. While I'm a fan of thin lines and smooth flowing ink, that would be a $72.00 cat toy around my house. The first time either kitty noticed it would move would likely be the last time I ever saw it, at least until I de-cattoyed the underside of the furniture.

It needs to extremely lite or it will be top heavy and more likely to be bumped over. This translates to lightweight thinnish construction. It will definitely serve as a novelty first and foremost, but it's nice to see that it's actual purpose is not compromised. It is a nice usable pen.

Knowing me, I’d probably misplace the one part! I’m a bit snobby about the ones I use - not by price but about how they feel and write. And this one doesn’t meet any of what I like - including the price! I sure do appreciate your videos of everything though! Keep up the great work!

For seventy two dollars it better do my work for me... I shouldn't have to touch it.... I don't care if it's in a cup, or hovering on a disk. if I'm paying 72? Dollars it better produce miracles....

That's a pretty cool feature, but no way am I paying that much for it.

One other point, you can buy an awful lot of good pend for that price!

Isn't it, "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog"? For those of you who don't know, that sentence contains ever letter in the English Alphabet.

For what it's worth, that appears use a D1 style ink refill cartridge. Lots of decent companies make them like Kaweco and Zebra.

It totally reminds me of those Newton's Cradle balls that everyone in the world had on their desk at one time or another.
It's a gimmick that will be quickly forgotten after the novelty wears off.

I think this one is like some of the other pens you have reviewed, way overpriced. I feel like some of these companies price themselves out of the market and end up failing. For even $20 I personally would probably pass, but I feel like way more people would be interested at that price point.

It would be a cool gift for someone who writes a lot at a desk, so they can always find it in the same spot
