LYRICS ---------------------------------------------------------------
Ain't it foggy outside?
All the planes have been grounded
Ain't the fire inside?
Let's all go stand around it

Funny, I've been there and you've been here
And we ain't had no time to drink that beer

'Cause I understand you've been running from the man
That goes by the name of the Sandman
He flies the sky like an eagle in the eye
Of a hurricane that's abandoned

Ain't the years gone by fast?
I suppose you have missed them
Oh, I almost forgot to ask
Did you hear of my enlistment?

Funny, I've been there and you've been here
And we ain't had no time to drink that beer

'Cause I understand you've been running from the man
That goes by the name of the Sandman
He flies the sky like an eagle in the eye
Of a hurricane that's abandoned

I understand you've been running from the man
That goes by the name of the Sandman
He flies the sky like an eagle in the eye
Of a hurricane that's abandoned

I understand you've been running from the man
That goes by the name of the Sandman
He flies the sky like an eagle in the eye
Of a hurricane that's abandoned

I understand you've been running from the man
That goes by the name of the Sandman
He flies the sky like an eagle in the eye
Of a hurricane that's abandoned

America is an American rock band formed in England in 1970 by Dewey Bunnell, Dan Peek, and Gerry Beckley. The trio met as sons of US Air Force personnel stationed in London, where they began performing live.

Achieving significant popularity in the 1970s, the trio was famous for their close vocal harmonies and light acoustic folk rock sound. The band released a string of hit albums and singles, many of which found airplay on pop/soft rock stations.

The band came together shortly after the members' graduation from high school, and a record deal with Warner Bros. Records followed. Their debut 1971 album, America, included the transatlantic hits "A Horse with No Name" and "I Need You"; Homecoming (1972) included the single "Ventura Highway"; and Hat Trick (1973), a modest success on the charts which fared poorly in sales, included one minor hit song "Muskrat Love". 1974's Holiday featured the hits "Tin Man" and "Lonely People"; and 1975's Hearts generated the number one single "Sister Golden Hair" alongside "Daisy Jane." History: America's Greatest Hits, a compilation of hit singles, was released the same year and was certified multi-platinum in the United States and Australia. Peek left the group in 1977, and their commercial fortunes declined, despite a brief return to the top in 1982 with the single "You Can Do Magic".

The group continues to record material and tour with regularity. Their 2007 album Here & Now was a collaboration with a new generation of musicians who credited the band as an influence. America won a Grammy Award for Best New Artist and were nominated for Best Pop Vocal Group at the 15th Annual Grammy Awards in 1973. The group has been inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

I think I was in 6th grade "69"? When Horse with no Name came out? But I've been a fan since then! I can't explain why I enjoy America's Sound so much? I'm more of a psychedelic rock person! But I love their guitars playing together and believe they are an underrated American Rock? Group!

My favorite band in the 70’s they were so underrated! Every band member was a leader in his own right and together they were capable of nothing short of amazing👏

No theater, no explosions, no dancers..Just raw talent. I hope never inducted into the hall of shame. It would be a shame for all this talent to be surrounded by crap in glass cases

A high school classmate was a sound engineer for America. He told me on his birthday they let him come onstage with a guitar for this song. He pretended to play while the real guitarist was offstage. He said it one of the best experiences of his life.

Their songs were like a soundtrack to my childhood. So special. Music isn’t the same today…so sad.

I hadn't heard this song before seeing them live in Maurice Stokes Fieldhouse at St. Francis College in Loretto PA, 1973 ish. It was, and still is, the loudest single song I've heard in concert. Blew my mind.

This band was underrated back in the day, mainly because the flood of the British invasion was around same time, but as far as radio play, these guys were kings. I was about 12, didn't know at the time that bands of those days would become iconic symbols of the time.

America was my favorite band in the 70's. The first concert I ever went to was AMERICA. They totally rocked Sandman, extended concert version with loads of guitar. The concert I went to was in Hawaii & Bill Mumy (Will Robninson) played on drums. Never forget your first.
