Japanese 'Speech Jamming' Gun Will Shut You Up Fast

A Japanese scientist has put together a "digital speech jammer", which is essentially a gun that confuses people into halting their incessant prattle. It records the speaker's voice, then shoots it back at them on a slight delay. Inspired by a**hole little brothers everywhere.

People can train out of it - I do a lot of teleconferencing, and sometimes I hear me echoing from feedback on their end. I'm nearly immune to the effect already.

@rob16248 It's not rocket science. A device like this is simple enough to build in your own home with commercial off-the-shelf parts. It uses a directional mic to record your voice, and then a directional ultrasonic speaker to play it back with a delay of a few hundred milliseconds. This causes the delayed auditory effect, confusing your brain and making you stutter. It's like having a parrot on your shoulder that repeats everything you say, as you're saying it.
