Hearing this song, as a man who has recently lost all faith, feels more important now than ever. Maybe it wasn’t written as a gospel song, maybe it was written has a painful harkening back to what we knew faith as before we learned of a cold hard reality. A background of religious imagery tainting the pains and struggles of a more current and harsh reality. Broken to a point to where one cannot help but look back at what faith was like. Yearning for something similar. With only the glorious yet empty word “hallelujah” echoing in the heart and mind.

Thanks for this! Rhyming in this AABB pattern is really effective. Our brains love to find patterns in music! :)
