THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE CHOOSING LAW

Hey guys! Here are some of the things that I wish somebody had told me before I choose to study law. Even though, knowing all these things now I would still study law, it would have been nice to have been better informed! i’m 14. my dad is in jail and he told me that he is studying law so i’m now studying it to feel closer to him. i just wanna make him proud so after i study and learn facts about the law, on my next visit with him i’ll tell him what i learned 😊😊

•nobody can “help you” with your degree. There is not much time with your tutors, you may feel isolated. You will be reading so much about the law, there is so much!

•There is lots of reading. Reading the textbooks will not be enough for your exams.

•Find a university that teaches in a way you like! Forgot about league tables, FOCUS on the way they TEACH you.

•Your A-Levels will be very handy! Skills from psychology, history, sociology, maths and english are all touched upon.

•You MUST be independent.

•You pay £9, 000, but you don’t get much for it. Its not like A-levels when you can see your teacher at any time, you need to book a time with them.

•GCSEs: like being fed by a spoon
A-Levels: you decide to feed from the spoon
Uni: there is no spoon, YOU have to get it!

•Text books cost a lot of money!

I like the concept of self-centered study rather than having to rely on lecturers all the time who may not even be available. Great video :)

Law school is tough .... very tough but it’s worth it and she was complete right when she said it’s mostly don’t by yourself it’s very very independent I passed the Pennsylvanian bar after failing it in Illinois

I found this very helpful! I really want to become a lawyer, and I find it helpful to weigh the pros and cons. I am so nervous for my future but I really hope I can conquer my fears and get my degree in the future.

I‘ve only got one year of school left and I don‘t know what to do afterwards… I‘m so stressed out bc I don‘t wand to disappoint my parents- they are convinced that I can do this but I‘m just overwhelmed with the whole situation and I doubt myself. My parents spent a lot of money on a test (basically they just tell you what type of job fits you best and which kind of job you should pursue). Well my results were clear: I should study law. I just feel so insecure and I do not know if it really fits me.

I’m doing an MSc in public health and I know what you mean about isolating course. Personally I prefer that style, but if you don’t it’s tuff!
