Lyrics:

Bob Dylan - The Times They Are A-Changin’

Come gather 'round people, wherever you roam
And admit that the waters around you have grown
And accept it that soon you'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth saving
Then you better start swimmin' or you'll sink like a stone
For the times, they are a-changin'

Come writers and critics who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide, the chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon, for the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who that it's namin'
For the loser now will be later to win
For the times, they are a-changin'

Come senators, congressmen, please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway, don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt will be he who has stalled
The battle outside ragin'
Will soon shake your windows and rattle your walls
For the times, they are a-changin'

Come mothers and fathers throughout the land
And don't criticize what you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters are beyond your command
Your old road is rapidly aging
Please get out of the new one if you can't lend your hand
For the times, they are a-changin'

The line, it is drawn, the curse, it is cast
The slow one now will later be fast
As the present now will later be past
The order is rapidly fading
And the first one now will later be last
For the times, they are a-changin'

What can you say about Bob Dylan? Brilliant. Genius. How blessed we are to be able to hear his music.

I see a lot of comments that say, "it's very relevant", "timeless song" and it's true, but if you think about it, it's been 60 years since " TheTimes They Are A-Changin’ " and things haven't changed at all.
This song was full of hope when it was written, and now that you listen to it, it is indeed full of melancholy for what could have been and wasn't.

Back when “revolution was in the air”, as Dylan would say, we had a saying that holds true today: “It you aren’t part of the SOLUTION, then you are part of the PROBLEM”. Just sitting around hoping things will get better, or mysteriously solve themselves…. is not the answer.

This song was is relevant today as it was in 1964 and it will be relevant in 2064 and 3064 because it's about the only constant thing in life: Change.

The concluding expression: The first will be last and the last will be first is from Christ Jesus, spoken many times by him in NT Scripture under various circumstances!! One citation is Mark 10:31😊

Power madness + greed will only dissappear when we, the "sapiens" species blow ourselves to Kingdom come. Great song though, great artist RIP.
