ARK Aberration Survival Ascended's New Trait System is Game Changing

I like to PvP, and PvE on ARK Ascended. Usually beating maps under an ARK challenge. Unlocking the ending cinematics is easy with no cheats needed anymore, and usually on a server, official or unofficial, I'm not fussed. Single Player is great though, certainly with a guide for any platform be it xbox, ps4, ps5, pc, it's great. Sometimes play some wild mods, and usually post patch/update. But a survival game needs some community news and that's what I do, giving you the latest on events, maps, maybe even premium mods and official usually covering all maps from Island, Scorched Earth, Aberration to Extinction, Gen 1 & Genesis Part 2. And one day. ARK 2!

This is way too powerful to be placed behind a pay wall. This should be added to the base game for everyone.

I hope they fix the PS5 performance issue with the grass and bushes disappearing and lag I've played the game for months before this update and can't at all without it bugging out and I've done everything possible restarting and reinstalling, it sucks disappointing

Good news for anyone on unofficial and singleplayer that doesn't own bobs tall tales:
On the modding discord there has been a statement from WC, giving modders clearance to implement their own gene scanner and storage, without players needing the DLC to use the mod
(this is currently the only feature excempt from the usual ownership rules, considering how gamechanging it is and modders still can't use the DLCs models)
So you might soon see mods out there that allow you access to the gene system without need to buy the DLC!

That being said, i also got some additional info from inside the dev kit regarding gene traits:
- Chances for dinos to spawn with tier 1 appear to be roughly 75%, 22% for tier 2 and 3% for tier 3.
- While the in-game tooltip for mutable mentions the additional mutation chance, it doesn't say how much it raises the chance for the specific stat to be picked as the mutation.
Unless i'm mistaken base chance should be 16% (1/6th), with traits raising it to:
25% (T1), 29% (T2) and 33% (T3)

these are INSANE, it makes the game somuch more strategic and enjoyable. no longer are we just milking stats, we can make different builds for dinos.
you can get up to 90% weight reduction with 3 tier 3 weight bearing traits!!!

kingslayer and giantsslayer DO stack by the way, up to 3 each

The tragedy of this DLC is that stuff like this is SO cool and a much needed breath of fresh air for the game, just to be locked behind a paywall.

2:10 it has taken WAY longer than a year to fix. this became an issue when incubators where introduced in gen2.

Tbh while it does seem strong, when you’re mass breeding you won’t bother to do this on majority of tames. I feel like this will moreso be used on specific tames you actually like and want to put the time into

*Health/Resistances*

**Tenacious** -> dmg red 0 to {12, 50%} when hp gets to 50 to 25%
**Numb** -> dmg red {25%} - takes dmg over 5 sec (aka deaths dance lol)
**Atlethic** -> {0.05} Hp and Stam regeneration for every point in Oxy
**Fatty** -> {0.1} armor for every point in Food
**Vamperic** -> {5%} Lifesteal

*Player related buffs*

**Warm** -> {40} hypothermic resistance, Cold-based attack {5%} resistance
**Cold** -> {40} hyperthermic resistance, Heat-based attack {5%} resistance
**Distracting** -> Attacking gives target {5%} less dmg to any other target than the attacker
**Protective** -> {15%} dmg red for rider (remains 10sec after dismount)

*Speed*

**Nocturnal** -> stam use {-2, 5%} at night
**Diurnal** -> stam use {-2, 5%} at day
**Carefree** -> {7, 5%} speed boost until dealing/receiving dmg
**Aggressive** -> {2, 5%} speed boost for 5sec after dealing dmg
**Cowardly** -> {2, 5%} speed boost for 5sec after receiving dmg
**High endurance** -> sprint stam use {-4%}
**Aquatic** -> {7, 5%} swim speed, oxy drain {-12, 5%}, sprint stam use {-4%}

*Utility*

**Fast learner** -> {15%} xp boost (can be removed as adult)
**Frenetic** -> {7, 5%} faster torpor drain
**Slow Motabolism** -> reduces food consumption by {5%} (incl abilities)

*Meele based*

**Heavy Hitting** -> {+2, 5%} dmg {-5%} as
**Quick Hitting** -> {+2, 5%} as {-5%} dmg
**Excitable** -> Normal attack reduce the cooldown of your abilities by {0, 25} second (legit lol passive)
**Angry** -> dmg 0 to {12, 50%} when hp gets to 50 to 25%
**Giantslaying** -> Dmg under 200 DW {-7, 5%}, Dmg over 500 DW {+2, 5%}
**Kingslaying** -> Bosses, Alphas {+5%} dmg, everything else {-10%} dmg

*Weight*

**Desert bearing** -> {15%} less weight for
[Silk][Raw salt][Cactus][Sand][sulfur]
**Carcass bearing** -> {15%} less weight for

this opens up a world of possibilities there is so much you can do through this. turn more creatures into boss creature make fast travel mounts able to carry more resources from distant places etc etc i love the change though it shud be free for all

Looks like Ark has gotten even more crazier and breeding for OP dinos has just gotten way easier and more extreme I guess

Raas did u notice the issue with the drakes gliding feature. I think its the same one that was around when ab launched on ase! Its crazy they added 3 levels of each trait!! Great video brov
