Lens Accommodation is a 2D lesson that uses both illustration & animation techniques. For this project I researched, conceptualized, illustrated, storyboarded, animated and created this work.

If the muscle contracts by parasympathetic action> it pulls the lens forward and as the eye ball is globular, the lens get itself in a less space>traction on suspensory ligament decrease>LENS BECOME GLOBULAR

During relaxation by sympathetic or parasympathetic blocker, The muscle comes posteriorly>Lens get more space(as eyeball is round)>Traction in suspensory ligament increased>lens become flattened

Excellent graphics. What if have a good healthy life style, with some gentle exercises to work on those muscles, focusing in close and far objects with the proper light and the correct indications to relax and tune those muscles. Couldn’t it be a solution for that kind of vision degeneration. As any other muscle in you body it obviously degenerates but I have seen people taking care of their bodies and themselves very well without surgery or external tools/gadgets.

But what tells the muscle the optimal point where it must stop contracting? Like the heart knows by the blood CO2 level how fast to beat surely there is something that tells the ciliary muscle how much to contract, what is it?
