Sigh… it’s true. I (esfp) like to LOOK busy so that people think I’m working harder than I really am. In school I used to actively volunteer easy thoughts first so that I wouldn’t get called on randomly later for material I didn’t REALLY study.

I am an INFJ female married to an ESTP male. Now my description was spot on as I am always trying to prove to my husband how smart I am bc I take great pride in learning and growing in knowledge about things, especially those things that pertain to the dynamics of our relationship. However, his did not match him at all!! I absolutely LOVE words of affirmation as that is my love language, however that is on the bottom of the list for him and therefore since it isn't important to him, he rarely EVER compliments me on anything bc he doesn't see a need for it!!! It really does hurt and break my heart that he is this way, however I do not remember him being quite this bad when we first started dating 18 years ago. But, more than likely, I was only mirroring his extroverted nature and trying to impress him which was why it "seemed" as if he was complimenting me when in all actuality, he was probably only complementing himself and I was just mirroring it back to him bc I wanted to keep having fun. I had no idea what I was in store for when we meet. It has been a very difficult rollercoaster ride to say the least.

It's right, but not very to manipulate, but to show or prove I am not what people think I am. That I am really more intelligent than they think. Be cause I have often the impression people find me stupid.

im infp and i generally dont try to convince anyone of anything other than the fact that i am aware of more than my monotonous routine daily life would imply. people are invested in themselves so i tend to let circumstances prove the pudding if that makes sense.

(INTJ) I don't think we're going to use our child function to manipulate someone, maybe some but not most. A lot of us find both manipulation and self-promotion distasteful, but when we do, it's probably going to come from a more T place, wearing someone down by convincing them with logic. We might know that logic is flawed, or hiding something, but we will create a framework of thought that seems irrefutable. [edit]: Probably more like how you described the INFJ style, come to think of it.
That said, I think most of us will try to avoid that situation -- it offends our Fi and our sense of right and wrong. Unless we have to take down a villain of some kind. Then we'll lay a trap, planned for with multiple contingencies, thinking several moves ahead.

I’m an INTJ and I manipulate by pretending they don’t exist or by intimidating them. We are also great at con artistry and putting one over people

ESTP here. Very accurate with my type and also with the experiences that I made with the others (especially ISTJ 😅)
