My parents immigrated from Ireland to the USA before I was born, I have a noticeable Irish accent that I picked up from my parents and one of my friends showed me this and I was grinning like a moron lol

As americans we're not exposed to the Irish or Scottish accents very often so the difference isnt as well known here, probably why the show can get away with mixing them up sometimes. half the time they're fake anyway. lol

As an Irish-American I must inform Gaynor that "luck of the Irish" is actually a sarcastic statement as the Irish are extremely unlucky. Subjugated by the British for centuries, almost enslaved in America, etc.

I think it’s harder for Americans to truly capture Irish accents because we think of Michael Myers when trying to perform it. Myers is half Scottish and have Irish (I believe) and you can hear it in Shrek (he voices the titular character).
