Hull Extension & Swimming Pool! - Ocean Liner Build - Part 7

Lets extend the hull of our ocean liner and add a swimming pool to the top deck. We're then going to figure out a way for people to get up the the top deck too.

According to my Google search, the first ocean liner to be built with a swimming pool was the White Star Line RMS Adriatic in 1906.

This is leaning more towards cruise ship territory now. Oceanliners were built for long distance travel in ultra comfort at a reasonable pace. While some did have pools they were indoors. On a rear deck you would be more likely to find a squash court or place to play various sports.

As to the funnel issue, the skylight feels too big making the distance between them too extreme. Your best bet would be to shorten the skylight (make one for ballroom/staircase and then a seperate one for engine room as was often the standard) and move the second funnel forwards.

If you want some ships to reference i would highly suggest Normandie, Queen Mary and SS United States as those have a more modern/art deco feel which seems to be what you are going for.

(As someone who cares deeply about ocean liners and their history im happy to answer any questions, though im better at the great liners of the 1910s rather than the 30s)

Very very nice! Maybe cargo hatches at the bow and drinks bar at the stern?

Loved the video @FranticMatty! Can't wait for the next video man! The Ocean Liner looks a lot nicer with the Extension, but the Swimming Pool now makes it more of a Cruise Ship from the 1950's instead.

I think if you Cut the Skylight in Half and Added the Third Funnel back to the Design, moving the Rearmost Half of the Skylight between the Center and Third Funnels along the way, You'd be pretty great for the Ocean Liner of the 1920's and 1930's. Most Ships at the Time didn't have an Outdoor, Let alone an Indoor, Swimming Pool in the First Place. That particular Design Concept was started by the RMS Adriatic in 1906 (Indoor Pool) and the Blue Ribbon winner SS Normandie in 1932 (Outdoor Swimming Pool).

The Deck color could be either the Light Brown or a Dark Blue Color, depending upon wether or not the Ship is Serving in a Time of War. Dark Blue for when it's in Wartime, Light Brown for Peacetime.

Closest Approximations:
• Dark Blue: Celestial Blue (73, 151, 208) (Source: Wikipedia, Blue, Shades of Blue, Shades of Azure).
• Light Brown: Wood Brown (193, 154, 107) (Source: Wikipedia, Shades of Brown, Additional Variations of Brown).

Let me know what you think about this and I'll catch you in your next video man!

You should name the ocean liner “SS Frénétique” (Frantic in french)

Fun fact for you frantic The RMS Adriatic of the White Star Line was the first ocean liner to have an indoor swimming pool. The pool was about 6 feet deep and filled with heated seawater.

This feels like a cruiseship now, you should have an indoor pool and put some engine skylight where the pool is now which reaches down tonthe engine room below. Also the ropes from the mast could go to some aft mast nearly identical to the forward one

ngl the staircase at 14:37 looks like the entering sene for one of the missions in medal of honor allied assault (it has been a while so it might also be breakthrough or spearhead medal of honor games) where they exit the boat and need to kill aircraft at pearl harbor

a few tips. make sure railings are all along the sides of the ship where passengers will be. another tip is that you need to have a door in the wall to the life boats. its fine to not want passengers to see lifeboats but they need to get there in a semi fast way. for passengers on the pool deck they will need to funnel down a small flight of stairs and funnel in with the rest of the passengers going back up. this could cause injuries to passengers trying to get to lifeboats.

I think it would be cool if you could put a "fake funnel" in between the two funnels, famously the RMS Titanic had a fake 4th funnel, I think it would make it look better.

For a ship like this there would be a significant amount of class separation, which the barrier is perfect for since the pool would most likely only be for first class passengers and maybe second class

The sun beds should be loose so if it sink they move around

Is it just me or do other agree this look like ss Rex from Italian lines.
also Frantic you wonder about this 7:34 the first ship to have a swimming pool was white star line Adriatic, in 1906 but is was small and was inside the ship later ships like Olympic in 1911, Titanic in 1912, Rex in 1932, also the Queen Mary in 1935, and many other ships would get swimming pools.

I feel like theres something with the pool messing my mind. There should be less sunchairs and the pool should be a little bit bigger. If this was a ocean liner, i think all ages should enjoy soo i think you could a little bit of more depth for the adults you know. Funnels could be tilted just a little. Thanks, this build is awesome

i still feel like you should move the funnel forward, OR make it bigger, which i think is the best idea, since these type of funnels are HUGE

Move the "door" of the swimming pool one block higher so its the rim of it. It will look much better.
