That’s a lot of info.
Over my 20+ year career as a trainer, coach and educator one thing that I have learned about mental health is that too many options of what to do is simply crippling.
The mind cannot hold anymore information because it’s too busy surviving.
So, how do you even beginning supporting your mental health when you’re too busy trying to get through the day.
In my unsolicited opinion, its start small and simple. The brain craves predicability and wants to know what is going to happen next. That’s why it’s so important for babies to have a schedule. Their brains grow and function so much better. Same applies to adults. But, for some reason we tend to forget that because like i said before we are too busy surviving.So, in order to get you out of survival mode…try doing something simple that you know you can do daily that gives you a moment to “get out of your head.”
One thing health and wellness industry has taught me is that movement (however you choose to define it for you) is key to healing. That is why I mentioned walking in the reel. But, if walking is too difficult for you right now…that’s okay. What type of movement can you do every day without fail? Move your eyes, rub your hands, tap your feet. Start simple and build from there.
The other thing I mentioned was exposing your eyes to (sun)light. This has been a game changer for me and my client especially those who live north. I have often struggled through the winter months due to lack of (sun)light exposure. But, ever since I purchased a happy light and consciously chosen to spend more time outside in the winter my mental health has shifted significantly.
