CARRIE THE MUSICAL Comes to The CW's RIVERDALE!

Carrie White is a misfit. At school, she's an outcast who's bullied by the popular crowd, and virtually invisible to everyone else. At home, she's at the mercy of her loving but cruelly over-protective mother. But Carrie's just discovered she's got a special power, and if pushed too far, she's not afraid to use it…

Based on Stephen King's bestselling novel, the musical of Carrie hasn't been seen since its legendary 1988 Broadway production. Now, the show's original authors have joined with director Stafford Arima (Altar Boyz) and MCC Theater for a newly reworked and fully re-imagined vision of this gripping tale. Set today, in the small town of Chamberlain, Maine, Carrie features a book by Lawrence D. Cohen (screenwriter of the classic film), music by Academy Award winner Michael Gore (Fame, Terms of Endearment), and lyrics by Academy Award winner Dean Pitchford (Fame, Footloose).

"If she asks me to dance I swear I'll die" I guess she asked him to dance

Some people think this song sounds too basic/popish/High School Musical, and though I agree, I think it works just because of the irony. Most people who would go to see the show are already familiar with the story and what happens at the end, so seeing these kids getting so happy and cheery over prom, while most of the audience knows what will actually happen is just beautifully (and tragically) ironic.

Honestly, all that happened to all of them is Chris' fault, if she hadn't kept her mouth shut and ignored Carrie none of that would have happened.

The Students: "This going to be a night we'll never forget"
*Literally the same night*
Also the students: Make fun of Carrie and she kills them.
Carrie: Kill her mother, Chris, And Billy, and dies.
Sue: Is traumatized for life.

It’s kinda sad that they are so excited to have fun at prom and graduate and leave high school and they never get to do any of that because they die not too long after this song takes place

"and we're coming home as men." Bold of you to assume your coming home.

I like how they incorporated the infamous pig blood song from the 88' version on Chris' verse

I honestly prefer Riverdale's Version, I will not lie, The Heathers and the other musical they did were both awful, but the majority of carrie songs were improved
