I found the magic of how home decor can bring down my anxiety & stress and give me a real sense of peace and happiness! Thrift store bargains this week all having to do with baking, decor and a renewed sense of appreciation for my life and a new appreciation for YOU! A little rant perhaps about how I really feel about you!
I thrift shop, bake, clean, play with Desi, travel to the river and share with you why you all are my hero.
Hygge..what is it? The quality of being warm and comfortable gives a feeling of happiness. The best way I can describe it is an outlook on life that focuses on simple pleasures and taking the time to cultivate more of them in your life...
Can you share with me how you find happiness in your home decor?
Love you to the moon and back and I always will.
You all make this world a better place.

This made me think of my grandma's quote to me always....she lived just down the road from us and I passed her house each day walking to and from the bus. I LOVED on winter days when she'd be at the door motioning for me to come in for tea before heading home. I'd complain about this or that or my face breaking out. Grandma's quote? : "Well, you'd never notice it on a galloping horse!" (????) It's made me smile for many years. Even now in my sixties with everything starting to sag and never notice it on a galloping horse.... ♥

At 76 I can share with you that I spent most of my life happily doing for others, making things nice, easing, healing, supporting, loving, caring, making a gracious home, garden, family, career, and life. As a recent widow, I had to drastically down-size, leave my home, start over…but I do believe I am happier and more content than I have ever been, decorating my tiny new nest with thrift store treasures, bits of nature, and the pleasure of my simple life of solitude and peace.

This video hits home. I am mostly of Danish heritage. My grandma was born in Denmark and I miss her terribly. She was like a second mother to me. I loved going to her home as a child so much. She would serve me tea in a special little China cup that she had for me and we feasted on her delicious homemade Danish cookies. Her garden was smaller but magical, full of flowers including a stunning rose garden on the side of her home. She also grew a special type of raspberry that she turned into the most delicious jam you could ever taste. I used to sit on the little stone wall that my grandfather made and pick and eat those berries. When I think of my little Danish grandma I think of much warmth and love, flowers and lemon drops, her wonderful cooking, feeding the ducks at the lake and our special talks. She really did give me as you said Susan, a real sense of peace and happiness.

I have a funny picture of my parents laughing together, tucked inside my medicine cabinet. Every morning I see my dear mom and dad looking at me as I start my day, and remind myself how lucky I am that I was loved and cherished by two wonderful people.

What a beautiful, marvelous idea to put a quote in a frame from someone you love. I'm going to do it! My mom passed away 10 years ago and I miss her so much. I lived with her for a time in my adulthood and before we would go to sleep she would say to me, "meet you at the coffee pot"I'm going to find a beautiful little frame with her quote in it and put it by my coffee pot, thanks susan!

Three things help me with my happiness…spending time with my loved ones, lower my expectations of others, and be immensely grateful for this precious life I’ve been given.

Many things make me happy but for right now I am so happy for you and all these followers whose hearts you have touched and they share their deep feelings with you in return. You are very wealthy with a rich spirit and a life well-lived and still learning. Thank you Susan & Mr. Desi!

I found my happiness when I learned to let go of the small things that bother me and not put so much value in what others think of me because it only matters what I think of me! Giving myself permission to “let it go” was life changing. ❤ If the hokey pokey is what it’s all about then I’m on the right path! 😆 Take care!

You. You have helped make me happy. It’s no exaggeration to say that during my darkest times, your weekly video was the one bright spot of light and love. You showed me there is hope and a path forward, but I had to be willing to take the steps.

I’m now several years into a life I wasn’t expecting, and living very happily alone. I’m unsure how I would have navigated the path here without you showing me how you navigated yours. The details are different, but the experience is the same.

Thank you, Susan ❤

Last winter I watched a lot of videos about Hygge and I just love the concept. To me it’s all about comfort and self care, as well as creating a beautiful, self nurturing and relaxing atmosphere. As a woman who took care of 3 children, a husband, a house, and had a full time job for many years, it’s been difficult for me to relax and take care of just myself. But, Hygge is helping me with self care. I decorate my apartment now with things that bring me joy. I treat myself to foods that I love. On a snowy day I make a cup of hot chocolate and sit at my window while I sip it and watch the snow falling and I savor the moment. On cold nights I put a fluffy warm blanket over my legs and read a book and have a cup of tea. I hope you’ll enjoy Hygge as much as I have. Sending love to you and Desi. ❤️☕️🫖

If you have a small place, you can make the entire place a sanctuary. Like you did. It must be hard to decide what room you want to be in. They’re all special spaces.

My happiness is in my backyard with my two golden retrievers.I’ll light up the little fire pit and have soothing music like Kenny G and I’m in heaven watching them play and being so happy. Some nights we start up the grill for dinner and have dinner out there too and both my fur babies will do the happy dance awaiting their special dinner.
I think this time with them offers the ultimate peace and calmness in my life💗

I love your grandfather's quote, but then I looked at my hands that were paint-stained from refinishing a table. I looked down at my bare feet, and then glanced over to the latest book I'm reading, "Ivanhoe", an 1851 treasure that I found at an estate sale. My secret to happiness is realizing that I don't have to follow the path of everyone else. I've recently taught myself to refinish furniture -- taking an ugly piece and making it beautiful. I grew up in a family that demanded perfection and I was far from perfect, never measuring up. Once I escaped the prison and realized that I can make my own path, not only was there a sense of relief, but the world opened up and blossomed into something that I'd never imagined.

Happiness…hmmm. For me at my age on this planet it’s more about contentment. I’m not wealthy by any definition. I have enough as to not to want or desire more. Life flows with a steady ebb and I am grateful to enjoy what graces have been given.
I feel the comfort and warmth of your home. What a day we could have seeking out discarded treasures and renewing their gifts to us. However, I disregard the “no clocks”. The ticking of a key wound clock in the quiet of a room on a once remembered snowy night is a peaceful as I could ever want to be.

Susan, you bring me such happiness. Your video presentations are so professional, your editing so tasteful, your voice so calming. I do not know how you do it all but it must take up so much of your time, time that I interpret as the love you share with your followers. In Canada we are celebrating Thanksgiving at time to gather with loved ones and share those things we are thankful for in our lives. This year I celebrate alone, you see, my husband of 40 years past away in February. That is why your message that you share is so meaningful to me. Your kind voice, and gentle smile along your hopefulness is so refreshing. Thank you.

My fur babies add to my happiness. But what makes my heart sing is a sweet random phone call from my 16 year old grandson! Priceless. Loved this video. Thank you.
