The clarity and vividness Charlie Cram was able to share is recollection is incredible, but remember he’s carried that with him for 80 years. Bless them all we owe such gratitude to the greatest generation veterans. 👍🍻🇺🇸🇬🇧🇨🇦

His eyes may be closed, but he can see....

He sees the memories of the past like they play out before him in the current day.

Thankyou for your service, sir. And welcome home. Because those days are behind you, sir. It will be our days soon enough, if we don't reign this world back in. I pray it won't come to that.

Prime example of survivor guilt.
Inappropriate guilt, It was probably only seventeen years old. 😢

My Fad in law was in the second wave of Marines to land. He was a femolition man & threw saychel charges onto many of the caves going up on Suribachi. He spoke of the burned bodies & Japanese soldiers running out burning and/or badly injured in other ways. He got shot, surviving and having his older brother, a corpsman patch him up in the field hospital. He ended up doing MP duty in both Hiroshima & Nagasaki. They ended getting assigned to house with Japanese families. Though he said the family was good to him, he held an internal hatred of Kapanese necause of the torture they did to so many POWs.
