Replacing a Motherboard CMOS Battery #Shorts

If when you boot your computer it tells you an error message, like "Date/Time Not Set" or "CMOS Checksum Error". Then you may just need to replace the CMOS battery on the motherboard. In this video I will show you how to do so.

Important thing to note is definitely unplug your PC from the wall before doing this. After you unplug it, hold the power button for a few seconds to discharge the capacitors before you pop the battery out. The last thing you want is for a little bit of power to be on the board and when you pull out the battery it drops onto the Mobo and shorts something out.

Quick tip to make these batteries last triple the life span, leave the battery open on the side that looks rough in open air over night the chemicals/acids respond and form tightly around each other. Don't believe me, google "a study on hearing aid battery's shows how to get more from the battery". It's real.

I remember, when I was younger I had some bios issues and the only thing helped when I ditched the battery. It always a fresh start for my mobo 😂

I worked in the electronics area at Target years ago, and this older lady ripped the battery holder out and wanted a new battery. I felt bad telling her she probably fucked up the motherboard, though if it wasn't working before that she probably had some other issue anyways

Also don't touch both battery polarities with your fingers at the same time as it wil drain the battery and reduce its longevity 🤏

Also if you ever have a really difficult mobo and you've really ruined some bios setting you can pop this suckered in and out to fix it. May only work on older moves though.

Imagine using a screwdriver instead of your finger.
You dont have to change the battery you can just get it out wait for a min or so and put it back in.
