Gotta give it to them manufacturers to purposefully make it harder for people to repair the products they paid for. I remember old GPUs unscrew the fan shroud and repaste. Now there's usually like 5+ additional things I need to remove just to repaste it.

I remember when boards had rechargeable bios batteries that were soldered into the board, and included the RTC module.

It is hidden there to avoid customs. When the motherboard is getting through customs no batteries should be inside but because this means that someone has to open each box and put the batteries back in they hide it the so the xray machine can’t see it.

If you think that's weird, my HP PC you have to take off the entire front part of the case to undo the cmos battery. Was a real... *fun* time when i was doing manual ram overclocking. Luckily there was only a few clips.

From what i know, chinese motherboards do this to pass costums checking because batteries are banned in cargo.
But never saw it on a branded motherboard .
